The name Nor’easter Apparel comes from the powerful storms that roll in from the northeast and make their presence known along our coastlines. Nor’easters are fierce, unpredictable, and impossible to ignore. When one is on the way, Atlantic Canadians prepare—and perhaps complain about the weather a little, too.
Those qualities became part of our message. Nor’easter Apparel is about embracing where you come from, standing proudly in your identity, and wearing your East Coast spirit with confidence. Our designs are playful, expressive, and occasionally a little cheeky—just like the people and places that inspire them.
What began as a Nova Scotia clothing brand has grown into a broader celebration of local life. Inspired by Maritime language
One of the most recognizable parts of our style is our use of local East Coast expressions. Around here, a few simple words can carry a surprising amount of meaning.
“Yeah, no” might mean no. “No, yeah” might mean yes. “Gawd love ya” can be affectionate, sympathetic, or both. “Frig sakes” may be the only appropriate response when the weather changes for the fourth time in one afternoon. And “Jesus Murphy” is a classic reaction when things do not go quite according to plan.
These expressions are more than funny phrases. They are part of the rhythm of Maritime conversation. They reflect our warmth, our humour, our ability to find the bright side, and our habit of saying exactly what we mean—sometimes in a way that requires a little local knowledge.

Made locally, worn proudly
Every Nor’easter design is created and hand-printed in our Martins Point studio. Keeping production local is important to us, even when it costs a few extra coins. It allows us to stay close to the process, pay attention to quality, and remain connected to the community that inspires our work.
Our blank garments are purchased through Canadian distributors, and many of our products are manufactured in North and Central America. Once they arrive at our studio, our team transforms them into Nor’easter pieces—printing, preparing, packaging, and shipping each order from Nova Scotia.
